B. J. Medical College

The Student Counselling Centre at B. J. Medical College is a dedicated facility run by the Department of Psychiatry, established to support the mental and emotional well-being of every student on campus. Recognising that medical training brings its own intensity and pressures, the Centre offers students a calm, professional space to talk through whatever is weighing on them — whether that is academic stress, anxiety about examinations, low mood, homesickness, relationship or family concerns, sleep difficulties, or any acute psychological distress.

The Centre operates from the Ground Floor of the B. J. Medical College building, near the main stairs, and is open from Monday to Friday between 2 PM and 5 PM. A qualified Psychiatrist and a Clinical Psychologist are available every working day to meet students in person, listen without judgement, and offer guidance, counselling or onward referral as needed.

Access is deliberately kept simple. The service is open on a walk-in basis to all Undergraduate and Postgraduate students of BJMC — no prior appointment is required, and no case paper has to be made. Students can simply walk in during operational hours and be seen the same day.

Confidentiality is at the heart of how the Centre functions. Every interaction takes place in a private, stigma-free environment, and the content of counselling sessions is treated as strictly confidential. The aim is to make sure that no student ever has to choose between seeking help and protecting their privacy — support is meant to be easy to reach, respectful, and free of any social or academic consequence.
