Civil Hospital Ahmedabad is one of the largest hospitals in Asia — a 7,000-bedded tertiary care centre equipped with modern infrastructure and departments across all major specialties. It has served as the primary clinical training ground for BJMC students since the college’s founding in 1871, and provides free and subsidised care to millions of patients from across Gujarat and neighbouring states each year.

M. & J. Institute of Ophthalmology
Designated as the Western Regional Institute for Ophthalmology in 1968, M. & J. offers advanced eye care including specialised units for retina, glaucoma, cornea, and paediatric ophthalmology. The institute conducts regular outreach programmes to serve rural and underserved communities across Gujarat, and offers an MS (Ophthalmology) postgraduate programme with 30 seats annually, affiliated with B. J. Medical College.

State TB Training & Demonstration Centre
Established in 1959 within the BJMC campus, the State TB Training & Demonstration Centre is one of Gujarat’s oldest pulmonary medicine institutions. The department runs an MD (Respiratory Medicine) postgraduate programme since 1978 and plays a key role in state-level TB surveillance, Drug-Resistant TB (DRTB) management, and the capacity building of medical officers across Gujarat. It aims to produce pulmonologists who are proficient, socially responsible, and committed to ethical and evidence-based practice.

U. N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology & Research Centre
A world-class cardiac tertiary care and teaching hospital, U. N. Gujarat Cancer & Research Institute (M. P. Shah Cancer Hospital)
Established in 1972 and jointly managed by the Government of Gujarat and the Gujarat Cancer Society, GCRI is a Regional Cancer Centre of the Government of India receiving assistance under the National Cancer Control Programme. The institute provides state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic cancer care regardless of a patient’s financial background, and is affiliated with BJMC for DM and MCh super-specialty oncology programmes. GCRI also undertakes cancer registration, prevention awareness, and research.

Government Spine Institute
Inaugurated on 13 October 1978 by the then Prime Minister Shri Morarjibhai Desai, the Government Spine Institute is one of the largest centres for spinal cord treatment and rehabilitation in India. Operating on a ‘One Window Service Approach’, it integrates orthopaedics, physical medicine & rehabilitation, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, prosthetics & orthotics, X-ray, pathology, psychomotor laboratory, and social services under one roof. The institute encompasses Physiotherapy, Orthotic, Occupational Therapy, and Audiology Colleges.
