Upon successful completion of the four-and-a-half year MBBS course, all students are required to complete a one-year Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship (CRMI).
The internship is designed to provide hands-on, supervised clinical training across major disciplines and is a mandatory requirement for obtaining the degree of MBBS from Gujarat University and for registration with the Gujarat Medical Council.
The maximum permitted duration for completion of the internship is two years from the date of commencement. The rotational postings during internship are as follows: Community Medicine (2 months); General Medicine including 15 days of Psychiatry (2 months); General Surgery including 15 days of Anaesthesia (2 months); Obstetrics & Gynaecology including Family Welfare Planning (2 months); Paediatrics (1 month); Orthopaedics (1 month); ENT (15 days); Ophthalmology (15 days); Casualty / Emergency (15 days); and one elective posting of 15 days in any one of the following: Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy; Respiratory Medicine; Radiodiagnosis; Forensic Medicine & Toxicology; Blood Centre; or Psychiatry.
