B. J. Medical College

All MBBS students at B. J. Medical College are bound by the regulations prescribed by the National Medical Commission (NMC) under the CBME Guidelines 2023.

These guidelines apply to every student admitted to the MBBS programme since 2019. The maximum permitted duration for completion of the entire MBBS course, including the one-year Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship, is ten years.

No student is permitted more than four attempts in the First Professional MBBS examination. A student must pass all subjects of Phase I before being promoted to Phase II. A student who has not cleared Phase II examinations may join Phase III Part I training but will not be permitted to appear in the Phase III Part I examination until Phase II is cleared. There are no grace marks in university examinations.

The passing criterion requires a minimum aggregate of 50% combined in theory and practical, with not less than 40% in each component. Internal assessment marks are recorded separately and are not added to summative assessment scores.
The Family Adoption Programme — a mandatory community outreach component — applies to all batches admitted from 2023–24 onwards. Students migrating from another recognised medical college must fulfil all conditions as prescribed by NMC and Gujarat University.

For the complete set of regulations, students are advised to refer to the official NMC website: www.nmc.org.in.
