Patient’s Experience:
Laxmanbhai Dharecha is one of the patients of surgical department of Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad, undergoing treatment for pain in abdomen and vomiting. He belongs to Junagadh district. According to his wife he was taken to many hospitals of Gujarat at Chorvad, Mangrol, Keshod, and Junagadh etc. but could not be diagnosed accurately. Some doctor said he has got “knot in intestine” and was referred to civil hospital Ahmedabad. Initially I had apprehensions because civil hospital is very huge, and I was unfamiliar but she shared that the doctors and nurses at civil hospital are very empathetic, caring and cool. They admitted my husband in a general ward, carried many tests “free of cost” and diagnosed him correctly with a tumor in pancreas and did a major operation successfully. In private hospital, this would have cost me a fortune but here everything is free including medicines, hospital stay, operations and food. Doctors and nurses are available round the clock. This hospital is like Heaven and doctors are like God to poor people like us”.
