Scope and Output: The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology BJ Medical College Ahmedabad caters to patients from across the Gujarat State and adjacent states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh as a Tertiary Care Centre in areas like Maternity Care, General Gynecology care and Family Welfare including Birth Control and Spacing. Performance  average Annually 8000 deliveries, 80,000 Out patient Consultations, 4500 Gynecological Major Surgeries, 3000 Caesarean Sections, including laparoscopic surgeries, complicated obstetrics and gynecological cases referred. The Department has 240 Beds over and above 15 Delivery Beds inclusive of MLCU and OLCU, 08 Obstetric ICU Beds, 09 Operation Tables, 24 x 7 Triage. The sanctioned intake of UG student (MBBS) is 250 and Post Graduate MS OBG of 27 as on 2025 by NMC. The Department has 06 Sanctioned Teaching Units over and above 01 RMNCH+ Unit. The Department has sanctioned Posts of 03 Professors, 04 Associate Professors, 14 Assistant Professors, 27 Senior Residents, 01 Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology for OBICU. Department carries out RCH Skilled based training to State Medical Officers over and above inhouse training to the Postgraduate, Interns and Undergraduates. Department is accredited by GoI for Laqshya Certification till date and NABH Entry Level as a part of Civil Hospital.

The benchmark standard of 100% of cleanliness be achieved in labour & Delivery ant OTs 2. The standardized SSI rate of C Section be kept below 3% for this facility. 3. the initial assessment of patients reporting at Triage should complete within 15 minutes and treatment initiated by 30 minutes. 4. Patient feedback from maternity wards should reflect satisfaction score more than 90% as bench mark for patient and family rights. 5. Ensure that every Indoor case gets family counseling with regard to disease, treatment plan and possible outcomes with informed consent. 6. Medication errors should come down to zero as bench mark by means of Medication Audits by the stake holders-focusing on legible medication orders, drug reconciliation, safe administration, verbal orders, safe storage, labelling etc. 7. Patient safety incidents are intensively analysed and corrected followed by regular risk assessment.8. staff training in RMC and SBA should be 100% achieved for nurses.
